Artists are generally capable of giving ballpark estimates on tattoos, but the actual cost depends on a variety of factors, some of which may be unknown until the tattooing process begins. Determine if your artist is charging for the piece or by the hour to help you budget for your session.
There are also a multitude of factors that affect how long a tattoo will take. Here are some of the more obvious examples:
Size and placement of the tattoo
Detail requested
Style/design/techniques necessary
How well your client sits still or how often they request breaks
Artist level of experience and/or specialization
A variety of unknown individual biological factors
Bringing a friend for some moral support can seem like a great idea and might even be a great idea if the session is short. However, long sessions can take a toll on your buddy and it’s probably best to just leave them at home. It is not encouraged to bring more than 1 person to a tattoo session and children should definitely not be present.
You will need to bring a government-issued ID, as well as any comfort items you may want. These include but are not limited to, a throw blanket, headphones, books, etc. If you are scheduled for a long session, it is highly recommended that you bring a drink with a lid and snacks.

Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, oceans, and tanning for 2-4 weeks post appointment, or until fully healed.
Avoid heavy sweating, stretching or friction for the first few days after getting a new tattoo.
Often yes, but it depends on the age or type of scar. A consultation will typically be required to see if tattooing over the area will be possible.
We will not tattoo pregnant individuals due to the high risk it poses to the baby. Getting a tattoo while breastfeeding is possible, as long as the client is informed to cease breastfeeding should the tattoo present signs of infection.
Each artist maintains their own protocol for touch up processes. Reach out to your individual artist if you have questions regarding their policy on touching up their own work or the work of another artist.
